Im Hotel Villa Westend aus dem Jahre 1890 fühlt man einen Hauch vergangener Zeiten: Hohe Räume, antike Parquett-Böden und teilweise originale “Art Nouveau” Inneneinrichtung. Einzelne Möbelstücke der 1878 gegründeten Möbelfabrik J & J Herrmann findet man in den Hotelzimmern des Westend wieder. Diese weltberühmte Möbelfabrik erzeugte in bester Qualität Möbel nach künstlerischen Entwürfen, auch nach französischen oder englischen Mustern und beteiligte sich an verschiedenen Ausstellungen, darunter im Österreichischen Museum für Kunst und Industrie, dem heutigen MAK.

How it started...
In 1907, the property was acquired by the Pöder family and opened as the Pension WESTEND. Despite facing great challenges, the pension survived both world wars and it was only thanks to the hard work and idealism of the hotelier family that the hotel remained a pension even during the difficult years. The WESTEND has hosted several distinguished guests, notably the famous German poet Gottfried Benn, who is particularly remembered for his well-known poems about Merano and his letters from the WESTEND to his friends.
In 1983, the property changed owners, and it was a fortunate turn of events that it was acquired by a long-established, traditional hotelier family (the Strohmer family, already owners of the Hotel Europa Splendid). With great care, the house was renovated and adapted to meet the latest standards. The beautiful, sunny rooms, the many balconies, the airy dining room, the elegant lounges, and last but not least the lovely garden, were all equipped with modern comforts. Extensive renovations were carried out, with the focus on the guests: their needs, expectations, safety, well-being, relaxation and, not least, their restful sleep.
