Luxury behind thick walls
The Forsthaus Gradisch was renovated according to highest standard in 2022. With a lot of sensitivity, the owners have created a contemporary atmosphere inside the winding old walls. The charm of the past can be felt everywhere, yet you don't have to miss modern conveniences.
The wonderful rooms
Each bedroom is equipped with a small desk and has its own bathroom with WC. There are different bed sizes and bathroom facilities:
– Masterbedroom: 40m2 mit Doppelbett 180×210 mit Badewanne, Dusche und WC
– Zirbenzimmer: 20m2 mit DB 180×200 oder auf Wunsch 2 EB 90×200 mit Dusche/WC

The house has 3 living rooms:
– 50m2 Zirbenstube mit Esstisch für bis zu 12 Personen, 2 Sitzbereichen und Kachelofen.
– Bibliothek mit reichhaltiger Literatur mit Spieltisch und TV.
– 25m2 TV- und Bastelzimmer mit großem 55 Zoll Bildschirm und Jogeltisch ideal für Jugendliche (da im EG).
Highlights
Our short travel times to the Carinthian skiing areas: Gerlitzen 20 min; Bad Kleinkirchheim 25 min; Turacherhöhe 30 min and 15 min to Wörthersee and Ossiachersee.
The 50sqm large stone pine parlour with a bar and wine cooler, a library with a gaming table, a large TV room as well as the pool which is ecologically heated with geothermal energy, a small sauna, the designer kitchen and a billiard table are the highlights of this exceptional house.
Location
The Gradisch forester's lodge is located approx. 200 metres below Gradisch Castle in a completely quiet surrounding next to a little river at the edge of the forest. 5 parking spaces available.

Cancellation and early termination of stay
1) If the tenant cancels (terminates) the contract up to 14 days before the start of the rental period, all amounts paid to the landlord up to that point will be refunded in full (100%). If the tenant cancels the contract within 14 days before the start of the rental period, all amounts paid up to that point will be refunded, less the deposit.
2) If the tenant terminates the stay prematurely, he/she remains obligated to pay the full rental price.
3) A cancellation or termination must be made in writing. The decisive date is the day on which the landlord receives the declaration.

From Oberglan, you can reach the forester's lodge via the barely frequented Schlossweg and then via Radweg, where you reach the main road again. The entire environment is pure nature. No unsightly view spoils the sight. Only forest and fields surround the property. A small stream, which rises at the estate's own spring, ripples along the playground. The spring water is said to have legendary healing powers (see anecdote). Those who want to taste it can do so by the little fountain next to the new swimming pool and put a water jug on the lunch table.
More than 50 years ago, the house came into our hands through inheritance. Successively, the entire building complex was renovated; the roof was renewed, raised and extended, the stable building was made habitable and the blacksmith's shop was converted into an entrance hall and living areas.
In 2021 and 2022, a general renovation of the entire property took place. A deep drilling with 7 times 100m boreholes now supplies the house with ecological heat through a heat pump. A new underfloor heating was installed and the entire electrical system and installations were renewed. Each of the 5 bedrooms was equipped with its own bathroom. In addition to the bedrooms, our guests have 4 lounges at their disposal. The 50m2 large Zirbenstube with tiled stove, dining table for 12 people and two sitting areas, the library with TV and games table, the large TV room with Jogltable for handicrafts on the ground floor and the entrance hall with an antique billiard table. The new infinity pool is 4x8 m with counter-current and automatic cover. The sauna can be used for 4 people.
The story of Tröpferl Peter
Around the middle of the 19th century, the lord of the castle lived with his young wife and two little boys at Gradisch Castle. Unfortunately, a terrible illness hit him far too early. Unspeakable headaches tortured him day and night. So he put his head under the healing spring water and let the drops bring him relief. The people in the area therefore called him "Tröpferl Peter" (Peter was his first name). When he nevertheless passed away soon, his young wife moved to Vienna with their two boys and entered the service of Empress Sissi as a lady-in-waiting, where she soon rose to become the feared Obersthofmeisterin and lived at Schönbrunn until the empress's assassination.
