In the Hotel Villa Westend, built in 1890, one can feel a touch of bygone eras: high ceilings, antique parquet floors and some original "Art Nouveau" interior furnishings. Various pieces of furniture from the furniture factory J & J Herrmann, founded in 1878, can be found in the hotel rooms of the Westend. This world-famous furniture factory produced high-quality pieces based on artistic designs, including French and English styles, and participated in various exhibitions, including at the Austrian Museum of Art and Industry, now known as the MAK.

How it started...
In 1907, the property was acquired by the Pöder family and opened as the Pension WESTEND. Despite facing great challenges, the pension survived both world wars and it was only thanks to the hard work and idealism of the hotelier family that the hotel remained a pension even during the difficult years. The WESTEND has hosted several distinguished guests, notably the famous German poet Gottfried Benn, who is particularly remembered for his well-known poems about Merano and his letters from the WESTEND to his friends.
In 1983, the property changed owners, and it was a fortunate turn of events that it was acquired by a long-established, traditional hotelier family (the Strohmer family, already owners of the Hotel Europa Splendid). With great care, the house was renovated and adapted to meet the latest standards. The beautiful, sunny rooms, the many balconies, the airy dining room, the elegant lounges, and last but not least the lovely garden, were all equipped with modern comforts. Extensive renovations were carried out, with the focus on the guests: their needs, expectations, safety, well-being, relaxation and, not least, their restful sleep.
