    Overview

In the gourmet region of Hohenlohe, in the province of castles and palaces

Hohenlohe invites you to explore. Whether hiking, cycling, culinary delights or sightseeing, everyone will find something to enjoy. The small village of Bartenstein, the baroque jewel among the Hohenlohe residences, exudes authentic cosiness in particular. Here you can relax in the heart of nature and leave the stress of everyday life aside for a short time or head off to nearby sightseeing attractions.
Our ecologically renovated holiday flat in the Hofratshaus Bartenstein is located on Schlossstraße in this idyllic little town. Between the residential castle and the town arch, you can immerse yourself in the history of this once important town or simply enjoy the view of the Ettetal valley.

The holiday flat is located on the ground floor, right in the historic centre of the village: the old town in the front, unobstructed view of the valley in the back! The house from 1749 is a listed building and offers a cosy mix of modern furnishings and classic design.
The appartment with about 90 sqm is largely disabled accessible and offers space for 4 guests. Since the entire house was renovated with natural clay plaster, it has a very unique indoor climate; the thick walls keep the appartment pleasantly cool in summer.
The large hallway is shared with the host as an entrance or passageway. However, all holiday rooms are separate and lockable. Free public parking is available directly in front of the house on the street.

    Price

130,- Euro per night for the whole apartment (1-4 persons), bookable from 2 nights onwards.
Price includes bed linen, towels and final cleaning.

About the house and its family

The young host Dennis Jackelsberger grew up and has his roots in Bartenstein. His family, of Franconian-Hohenlohe descent, is already the fifth generation to live here. Dennis' great-great-grandfather worked and lived in the chancellery of I.k.u.k.H. Princess Anna and then of H.S.H. Prince Karl zu Hohenlohe-Bartenstein in the Residence Palace. The first ancestor known in writing was a merchant in Vienna in 1653. Re-Catholicisation in Austria brought the reformed Jackelsbergers to Franconia in the 17th century, then love to Hohenlohe around 1919.
The Hofratshaus was built in 1748-1749 as one of the first buildings in the baroque residential town. Karl Philipp zu Hohenlohe-Bartenstein, whose county had just been elevated to a principality 4 years earlier, ordered the building for his growing court. It is part of a 30-metre-long structure built on an even older vaulted cellar. For 70 years, until 1819, it was home to various court councillors of the young court. Certainly, French noblemen were also accommodated here during this time, finding shelter during Ludwig Aloy's reign, grandson of Prince Karl Philipp zu Hohenlohe-Bartenstein. With the Hohenlohe regiment, he is considered the founder of the French foreign legion in Bartenstein. Later, the post office and the municipal telephone exchange were located in the house. At the time, Bartenstein was known as an inland dominion and centre far beyond its borders.
