Exhibition Manfred Bockelmann: EN PASSANT

Schloss Rosegg 2022

Manfred Bockelmann, for decades an established figure in the art and culture of the German-speaking world, initiated a dialogue with the graceful Rosegg Castle and its visitors - and at the same time literally "took possession" of the castle with his imposing art objects. Twenty-five years after the artist's first exhibition at Rosegg Castle and in the 250th year of the castle, which was built in 1772, his dominant, delicate, strong, fragile oversized leaves are a clear statement on the beauty of life and nature. Although Bockelmann is clearly concerned here with transience, the "dying of the leaves", he leaves a quasi-eternal footprint of the joy of life. In passing - en passant - he has noticed these huge miniatures of our immediate environment. The journey starts in the future, in bold colours, in dreams, across the present - all this in the halls of the castle - back to the artist's very own life, the hidden heart of the exhibition, accessible in the basement of the castle only in private tours. Manfred Bockelmann, the painter of silence, has a strong, perceptible voice, which he also raises incessantly against oblivion. Listening to him and letting him question you is a blessing and a cleansing of the soul.
