    History

    Venezianisch & friulanischer Landhausstil

The villa, probably built at the end of the 17th century by order of the de Marchi family from Udine, passed into the hands of the Ottelio family between 1750 and 1769, who enlarged the annexe in the eastern wing to connect it to the main building. The name 'Località Ottelio' goes back to the noble family of the Counts Ottelio.

Today the villa belongs to the de Carvalho family. The villa is a mixture of Venetian influences and a Friulian manor house. From the latter it took over the narrow and elongated shape and the three-storey structure as well as the strongly projecting roof.

The villa is characterised by elegance and simplicity. The coat of arms of the de Marchi family is enthroned above a staircase with a double ramp that gives access to the living floor with a portal with a tympanum. The basement and ground floor were intended for agricultural purposes, the first floor was used as living space, while the attic was used for drying grapes.

The chapel of San Gaetano was first mentioned in a document dated 13 May 1701. The interior, which once contained the altarpiece of Saint Gaetano of Thiene with Saints Peter and James, painted around 1680 by Antonio Carneo, has a square floor plan. The presbytery with the choir stalls is adjoining the sacristy built in 1736.
