This idyllic holiday home is part of the baroque castle complex in the eponymous village of Weißenbach in the Lower Franconian municipality of Zeitlofs in the district of Bad Kissingen in Germany. The holiday apartment is located in the historic manor, where you can enjoy the very special charm of a historical monument, combined with the modern comforts of life.
The holiday flat, with enough space for all guests, offers space for up to 12 guests on two floors in 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 2 guest toilets. From the fully equipped kitchen-dining area, you can get together for games or chats in front of the fireplace in the living room. The spacious bedrooms or the reading area offer retreats for reading. A fibre optic connection provides the necessary connection to the outside world.
This is the perfect place to relax in the garden or on the terrace (in summer) and enjoy the tranquillity of the night or the clear starry sky from the flat's own jetty. A rowing boat is also available for short trips on the pond. In winter, weather permitting, the pond offers the opportunity to go ice skating. Afterwards, the private sauna warms you up again.
Up to 4 cars can easily be parked directly in front of the house. A lockable shed is available for e-bikes, which also has the necessary sockets so that you can go on an exploration tour with a fully charged battery through the beautiful Rhön the next day.
The holiday flat, like the rest of the farm, is sustainably heated with wood from our own forest. We have been producing green electricity on one of the roofs with a photovoltaic system since spring 2023.

The ensemble and the lands were first mentioned in 1167 in connection with the von Steckelberg family. In the early 14th century (1328), it passed by inheritance to the Barons of Thüngen and has been in the family ever since. The buildings are built over numerous former structures, were extended several times and in some cases rebuilt, for example in 1562, 1689 and 1784. The oldest structure still preserved today dates back to 1588.
The Bavarian original cadastre shows Weißenbach Castle and all outbuildings in the 1810s with almost the current building stock and the nearby hamlet of Weißenbach to the east with eight hearths and a chapel.
The renovated farmhouse was built in 1840. It was the residence of the agricultural manager, at times the post office (an old letterbox in front of the door still bears witness to this) and housed five refugee families after the Second World War.
Since the 1980s, the ground floor has been home to the von Thüngen family's administration for the agricultural and forestry business.
One family that remained constant for 80 years was the Trunk family, a family of tailors. They moved in in 1940 and two of the children lived here until shortly before their deaths. One of them also became a tailor and only moved out shortly before his death when he was over 90. Until then, he provided the family and all his relatives with traditional costumes, skirts and dresses. At weekends, he would play the sailor's piano from the window of the "tailor's parlour".
