    Overview

The imperial horse stables in new splendour

The imperial stables are located approx. 80 metres east of the Kaiservilla and include the horse stables, today's event room with approx. 220m², the saddlery, today the modern bar area, the sanitary facilities and a professional catering kitchen. During the extensive renovation in 2015, we made sure that the historical character of the former horse stables was preserved. The floor was fitted with wide spruce planks, the individual horse stalls and the stable alley are still visible, the walls are panelled with brown wood and semicircular wooden columns, and above them are original Adnet marble slabs, which have a beautiful red marbling.

    Red Marble

Sisi's favourite horses were housed in this red marble-clad stable. Today the stable is one of the best-restored imperial stables and is filled with new life. In any case, your event is in good hands here.

    History

    The Emperor and Bad Ischl

On 24 April 1854, the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I married the 16-year-old Bavarian Duchess Elisabeth. Probably the most precious and loving wedding gift to the young bride and groom was the Kaiservilla, a gift from Archduchess Sophie, Franz Joseph's mother. Franz Joseph spent sixty summers of his life in his beloved Bad Ischl, which was the centre of political activity during the summer months.

Archduchess Sophie bought the Biedermeier villa from a Viennese notary. Only after years of renovations and expansions did the Kaiservilla come into being as we know it today, surrounded by extensive park. In the heart of the Salzkammergut and in the centre of Bad Ischl, the Kaiservilla is a perfect mixture of hunting lodge and imperial villa with an imperial flair.
Special occasions are given the right setting in the Kaiservilla with its unique flair.
The neighbouring buildings of the villa include the stables to the north of the driveway, which were home to 50 horses at the time. Some of Sisi's favourite horses were also kept in the red marble-clad stables. Since 2016, you can rent the stables for your event.
